Now Creative Group has had the honour of celebrating Canada 150 by working with the Canadian Urban Institute to develop their latest project, I Belong Downtown. This campaign is aimed to showcase Canadian’s love for their downtowns across the country, as we continue to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary.
The campaign encourages citizens to engage in a nation-wide conversation about Canada’s downtowns. Based on people’s individual experiences, the campaign showcases the ways in which our downtowns are vibrant, welcoming places that embrace diversity of all kinds – and how this makes our communities, cities and country thrive.
Now produced the branding, visual identity and website for the campaign available at ibelongdowntown.ca. The main logo is featured below on the iPad, with the tagline included. The icon is featured above, incorporating the Canadian maple leaf, 150 for the anniversary, and an downtown city grid in the background.
Between August and November 2017 the #iBelongDowntown campaign will be gathering stories from Canadians across the country through videos, pictures, and written submissions.
“Everyone has a story to tell, and we want to give people a chance to share them. Like downtowns, stories bring people together; they build understanding and respect for each other, our similarities and our differences. Storytelling is how people communicate with each other and how we relay our experiences to others.”
This nation-wide story-telling campaign will help build a sense of appreciation for how important Canada’s downtowns are to our country’s past, present and future.
Team Now and CUI would love to hear about what made you fall in love with your downtown. Share your first downtown visit, your favourite area to explore, how your downtown makes you feel and even if any particular Canadian downtowns have played a role in inspiring creativity or entrepreneurship for you.
